Angelina Jolie, original name Angelina
Jolie Voight, (born on June 4, 1975 in Los Angeles, California, U.S.), American
actress and director who is known for her sexual edginess and sex appeal and
also for her charitable work. Her supporting role in Girl, Interrupted (1999)
was a role she was awarded in the Academy Award. Jolie, the daughter of actor
Jon Voight, spent most of her early life in New York. She moved to Los Angeles
when she was 11 years old. She attended the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute
for two years. She was then accepted into Beverly Hills High School. She then
studied drama at New York University. She also performed in theater
productions, and was a model for music videos. It was in Hackers (1995) that
Jolie first met Jonny Lee Miller, a British actor (married 1997; divorced
1999). Like many of the subsequent films, Hackers did not attract a crowd.
Jolie was the segregationist wife of Alabama's governor, attracting the
attention of many in 1997. Later, she was awarded an award, the Golden Globe
Award. In the HBO film Gia Jolie played a supermodel suffering from drug
addiction. She was awarded multiple honours and awards, including an award of
the Golden Globe Award, and Screen Actors Guild Award. In 1999, she was a part
of the comedy Pushing Tin with John Cusack and Billy Bob Thornton, and the
following year she married Thornton (divorced 2003).After the Oscar-winning
performance in Girl, Interrupted, Jolie was a part of a number of action films.
Jolie was the carjacker's wife (Nicolas Cage), in Gone in Sixty Seconds 2000.
In the following years, she adopted an accent that resembled a British accent
and began learning street fighting and kickboxing to be able to play the
characters of Lara Croft Tomb Raider 2001 and Lara Croft Tomb Raider The Cradle
of Life 2003. She played the role of Alexander's mom in Oliver Stone's
Alexander in 2004 and was also in the film with Jude Law and Gwyneth paltrow in
Sky Captain: The World of Tomorrow which is a suspense film about sci-fi set in
1930s New York City. Both films were unsuccessful at the box office, however
Jolie had a great time in Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005). She was a housewife
who pretends to be an assassin. While working on the film, she came across Brad
Pitt who became her co-star.
